FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS COSMETIC TATTOOING?

Cosmetic tattooing is the process of implanting pigment into the skin using specific tattooing techniques. The results achieved through cosmetic tattooing can be subtle enhancements with permanent makeup or corrective work through medical tattooing and SMP.

DOES IT HURT?

With the use of topical anesthetics cosmetic tattoos are very comfortable. Although every client has a different pain tolerance most clients would rate the discomfort a 2-3 out of 10.

IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD DO BEFORE MY PROCEDURE?

Depending on the procedure there will be some pre- procedure steps to follow before your appointment. Some general rules to follow are to stay out of the sun 7 days before your tattoo, discontinue the use of chemical exfoliant's on the area that is going to be treated that includes waxing the brows and upper lip area. Eyelash extensions must be FULLY removed before eyeliner tattoo, if you suffer from cold sores it is recommended to take antiviral medication before any lip-blush service. We will go over the full list of pre- procedure steps at the time of your booking.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FOLLOWING MY APPOINTMENT?

Your cosmetic tattoo will appear darker for the first 3-5 days. During the healing process they will go through what is called a "ghost' phase where the pigment will significantly lighten. Not to worry this is all part of the healing process. You will receive full instructions on aftercare and the healing process before you leave your appointment.

**results are not guaranteed. Skin type, skin health, aftercare and lifestyle all play a part in the healing and retention of your new tattoo

CAN YOU COVER OLD PERMANENT MAKEUP DONE BY ANOTHER ARTIST?

All cover ups require a consultation to see if the tattoo can be covered or corrected. Tattoo removal may be suggested before a cover up can be done. All cover ups/corrections will be considered new clients and charged accordingly.

ARE TOUCH UPS INCLUDED?

Touch ups are not included with your initial procedure as every client is different and may not require a touch up right away. Although it is recommended to get your touch up between 4-8 weeks for optimal results. An additional charge of $150 will be charged at the time of your touch up appointment.

HOW LONG WILL MY TATTOO LAST?

Depending on what procedure we are doing most cosmetic tattoos like brows, lips and eyeliner will fade over time due to the natural cell turnover of the skin. A color boost every 1-3 years is recommended to keep the tattoo looking fresh. SMP and more medical tattoos will last longer 3-5 years before needing a color boost.

FACTORS THAT CAN AFFECT YOUR TATTOO AND ITS RETENTION..

SUN EXPOSURE : SPF should be applied to protect your tattoo from premature fading

CELL TURNOVER : The renewing of new skin cells can affect your tattoo, the quicker the renewal the quicker the fading. Avoid using skin renewal products and harsh exfoliants such as AHAs and Retinoids directly on your tattoo.

BLEEDING : Bleeding during the procedure will reduce pigment absorption and affect the healing and retention of your tattoo. Avoid the use of medications that thin your blood and alcohol before your appointment.

SKIN TYPE : The skin type and overall skin health of the client can also have an affect on how your tattoo will heal and the results achieved. Mature sensitive skin will heal differently than oily skin. During your consultation we will discuss all risks associated with your skin type and skin health
